Chinese New Year
This year, last Friday, was the starting day of Chinese New Year. This year was the year of the dog, 狗 or Gǒu. The CNY's dates are decided by the Chinese lunar calendar. The lunar calendar is kind of like Chinese zodiac signs, but its got more difficulty in it. Say you want to find out what animal you are, look at at the calendar. If you were born in 2004, then you would be a monkey. Let me explain.
The easiest way to say this would be like this. It is 2018 now. You were born in 1994. And to find out what animal you are, take 12 years away from the year it is now and until you get to the year that you were born.
